Traveling through the Sierras

After leaving Lake Tahoe we headed south to pick up state route 88 which we then took southwest through the Sierra mountains. There are not many major roads this area and state route 88 which was only two lanes snaked along the ridge tops. Lots of great views but not much for guard rails. This photo was taken south of the town of Kit Carson and shows how the tree have a hard time finding a place to grow.
